help with tango music theory!

Hello Everybody,

My name is Laureen and I'm a 22 year-old singer and master student at the conservatory (musical theatre) in the Netherlands. I arrived a month ago in Buenos Aires to study Tango en Folk-songs. For my thesis I'm looking for anyone who has a knowledge on tango music: how it is written, origin etc. And maybe one of you knows where to get good theory books about Tango and maybe Folksongs and Cumbia: in English!
