Hey all,

This is my first post here, just joined the other day. Don't know if I qualify as an expat, was born in Toronto, but moved to Buenos Aires when I was 1 year old because of family. I did however go away to college in the USA for four years, where I got into brewing my own beer on a fairly regular basis my Junior and Senior years.

I remember my roommate and I were watching TV late one night after many drinks, and saw a commercial for a Home Brew Starter Kit ... and obviously went to my computer, clicked a couple of links and three days later had my very own kit. After graduating and moving back to Buenos Aires, I immediately started looking to make my own beer again, but lost motivation after realizing, and being reminded, that I couldn't just click a couple of links and get everything I needed delivered. I found a couple of websites and met some people who could help IMPORT ingredients and materials so that I could get started.

Anyway, long story short, I felt that this was too much of a hassle to make a couple of cases of beer just for me and my friends ... but as I suspect there must be many people like me that would like to make their own beer, here's a couple of links I'd like to share.

Minicerveceria is a great site and store. You dont need to import anything; they have all the tools and ingredients you will need to brew your beer. Brewing beer is not quite as easy as it is in the states because the majority of people that do brew here do it from scratch. This means making your own malt extract, choosing your grains, and doing the whole process your way. Its still not too hard as long as your willing to put in a little more time into it.

Here is the site I started with to begin learning!

Exactly what i was looking for! i'm irish and have brewed some beers at home but had to sacrifice my beer brewing kit to a friend when i came 2 weeks ago.

I will check out the links and let you know hoe i get on ;)

Anybody else have any tips or links or stores in BA which sells ingredients?

Cheers

Hey guys - I'm arriving in Buenos Aires in 2 weeks for 6 month a work assignment. I currently hombrew every month here in San Francisco and would love to get involved in the BA homebrew scene. If anyone wants to collaborate on a beer, let me know! I've been making beers all accross the spectrum: bourboun barrel aged stouts, saisons, pumpkin ales, double IPAs. Definitely interested in seeing what the trends are in the BA scene!

I've only ever made Ginger Beer here in B.A. but i made a few beer batches using malt extract in the UK.

Making everything from scratch is quite interesting but i was talking to a microbrewer in Neuquen who said he imported the hops from germany as he just couldn't get the quality here.

Anyone here brewing from scratch? Where do you buy the hops and barley?

Hey guy i am pretty new to the BA scene and have been thinking of doing a home brew. i have never brewed before. Maybe we can get together one day when someone is about to make a batch? I can watch videos on the net till i am blue in the face but I learn better hands on. I am always interested to met new people. Specially fellow beer lovers.

Cheers!

I would like to meet up with you when you get into the city. I will treat you to a few brews at my local microbrewery in Boedo http://www.pubcossab.com.ar. I would really get some advice in reproducing their Scotch Brew. Send me a PM when you get a chance.

I'd love to get together for a brewing party, and start to set things up to brew in my house. This is a great idea, I can volunteer my place if no one else wants to set it up.

I am in, give me a date and time and I will be there. I would like to take the first steps in making my own brew.
