Anyone know of reliable house sitting service? Looking to have house taken care of while we are traveling. Possibly getting it ready and meet any renters who may come through - thinking of putting it on Airbnb. And want the house cleaned and dusted every two weeks etc.

Some homeowners ask for payment from the sitters, but it's mostly a way of having someone occupying your home whilst you're away so that it isn't sitting empty. I was a member for a year as a sitter. You will be able to check references etc from applicants. It's quite a popular sight so you're likely to get plenty of interest.

Yes, it depends on what you are looking for. House sitters are that: house sitters: you don't charge them (normally), and they will take care of pets, plants, bills, cleaning etc.The benefits of TrustedHouseSitters etc is that people have references (and often their own place that gets 'sat').

AirBnB is a whole different thing: you charge for usage, should have nothing of personal value in the apartment and you need a local caretaker who does or controls the cleaning etc. It is quite a lot of work but can create a nice income, we have used it now for several years in Patagonia.
