How Argentina Embarked on the Road to Ruin

Well so
"I know that some people in the US associate the Nordic model with some sort of socialism. Therefore I would like to make one thing clear. Denmark is far from a socialist planned economy. Denmark is a market economy,” Rasmussen said.

Danish PM in US: Denmark is not socialist

Well some leftists heard about the Nordic Socialistic Model being successful , 30 years ago, they haven't since updated their files ... Sweden. Denmark and Finland are market economies (neoliberal a la Milton Friedman)

Exactly- the only real "socialist" country left is Cuba.
China is single party capitalist, North Korea is hereditary Monarchy, with added torture, and Russia is a dictatorship with ogliarchs owning everything.

The range of possibilities for the Argentine economy includes many democratic, capitalist options such as the ones in Norway, Sweden, Finland, the Netherlands, Germany, Denmark, France, Great Britain, Italy, Austria, Switzerland, South Korea, Japan, Singapore, and many more. All of which are somewhat "leftist", and none of which are Venezuela.

Russia is clearly not socialist, and hasnt been for decades.

Better options to observe for ideas would include most of scandanavia, or japan, all of which have managed to retain democracy, private ownership of land and businesses, thriving economies, along with a greater degree of government intervention in the economy, health care, and education.

Its not an either/or, black and white choice- there is an infinite range of possibilities on how to balance public versus private desires and concerns in an economy.

Scandinavia now has, for a long time, mostly market Economies...!
Some want a Bigger State apparatchik others less State intervention. It's a conundrum ..!

Great range of possibilities for Argentina as you mention..! In some of these somewhat "leftist" countries such as Singapore.

Nobody is suggesting that "Market Economies" are bad. However, again- there are an infinite number of variations possible within the category "Market Economy". All the major first world countries are Market Economies, and, except for the USA, all have universal healthcare. Like Argentina.
The "Road to Ruin" is not Socialism, with a Capital S- its policies to the left of what some want, and to the right of what others want.

Also, having spent several trips to Singapore since the 70s, I would say many of its policies are far to the left of what we see in Argentina- for instance, more than 80% of its population live in "socialist" publicly financed housing. Its Medical and Education systems are public, not capitalist. Capitalism is pretty tightly controlled there by the government. No cars downtown. Extreme gun control.
Believe me, if the laws of Singapore were proposed in the USA, we would be hearing loud cries of "Communism!"

I'm no Expert in Universal health care throughout the World. But now that you mention Argentina Public Health system, perhaps yo can name one single Politician that uses the Public Health. No one wants to be in the Public Health if they can afford it. Well time out ..!

Public Health care is a safety net for the Public, not a boutique service for the rich and powerful. In Argentina, one of the problems is definitely the Dynastic Politicans from wealthy families. I am not aware of the personal details of every politician in Argentina, but I would imagine that in the Provincias, there are plenty of lower level politicians who use public health care.
But the whole point of government services like Public Health care is to give EVERYONE a chance to be healthy.
Obviously, the rich are free to spend more for pampering, not just in health care, but in transportation (Mercedes) in education (Private Universities, or Harvard) in housing (Gated communities) and so on.
The existence of more expensive options does not somehow invalidate the need for public services.
