How does car rental insurance work in Uruguay?

Hi, my husband and I need to rent a car in Uruguay (we rented a house a bit off the beaten path) and I have been a bit confused about how the insurance works. Lots of :confused:conflicting information online and don't speak enough spanish to fully comprehend.

Anyone? help.
