Arable land...in northern Patagonia? Patagonia is mostly steppes and brushland.

Heh...I have an acquaintance who is buying silver for an imagined dystopian future. I had the distinct pleasure of pointing out that, in the event of apocalypse, the only metal worth hoarding will be lead.

You know, sometimes I think "doom-prepping" is just a form of escapism from the monotonous grind of American work culture. A curious byproduct that has 9/5 workers cosplaying a form of urban homesteading.

You are right about most of Patagonia, a harsh land only good for raising sheep.

Except for the Rio Negro High Valley, where most apples and pears come from. A green oasis, specially in the stretch between Neuquen and Chinchinales.

The problem with the locations mentioned is that in a nuclear winter the temperatures will be 5-10 degrees lower than before. That means colder winters, less wine, and less food production.

Me, I’d go to the Posadas / Encarnación area, big lake which is unlikely to be contaminated, lots of fish, fertile land, and 5-10 degrees colder would make it even nicer.

As true as that is, i'm not sure i wanna survive any apocalypse with people that today bitch about a 3.50 cup of coffee lol can you imagine that bunch having to actually survive? as in cut firewood to cook meat over a fire?
