So I just finished my four days vacation in Bariloche, the last time I was there was last year october. Things were slightly more expensive than Buenos Aires.

I didn't expect the big mac at the McDonald to be 13K pesos versus 8K in Buenos Aires.

A full meal in Bariloche at McDonald cost me 28K peosos. That makes me wonder: are people in Bariloche all making at least a million pesos per week?

My Argentine friend, who is now living in Europe, told me that before the pandemic, she found a job in Bariloche as a phone operator for a cruise company. She was able to save up and buy an apartment there. That makes me wonder about the cost of living there, especially after I paid the price of a Big Mac, I wonder even more.

That makes me wonder how they would preserve their wealth, in gold? In hard cash dollar? Foreign accounts?

But I don't think old money would be the cause of everything is more expensive than BA

Lots of people in bariloche hedge their wealth with 5x levered Andes pine tree future etfs

Welcome to Neuquen my friend. Few people realize just how much more expensive it is here than CABA. And yes, the average sueldo en blanco is 1.2M - 1.5M at this point.

I personally would not trust any etfs with leverage, not even 2X.
Neither I'm qualified to invest safely into those Xed funds, they have diminishing value on daily basis.

So if I get it right, Bariloche is like Manhattan of Argentina, where many traders living in the woods? And some how they have the access to the U.S market there? That's very interesting to learn it.

Well, it make sense they'd making 800-1100 dollar per month, higher than CABA.
But...still pricey to make a living there.
