I was driving to one of the outer BA neighborhoods today, Pompeya. After I turned onto a smaller one way street, a car pulled right in front of me and slammed on the brakes. I had to slam my breaks to avoid hitting it (and I just barely did). As soon as that happed, two young men (late teens, early 20s) got out of the car and rapidly approached me. A third, the driver, remained in the car. One of the two out of the car had a gun (it appeared to be one anyway) and pointed it at my head. I had my eight year old son in the back seat, and was very scared. Fortunately, they just got my wallet, which did have a fair amount of cash, credit cards, etc. I did report the crime to the police commisario of that neighborhood. When I was there, another person was reporting the same type of crime.

This happened at 3 in the afternoon, not in the evening.

I know that many of you are probably aware of this type of crime, but I thought it would be worthwhile to send the reminder to try to be alert for this when driving.

Stay safe.

Damn thats awful.. I have also been robbed with a gun to my head, but not with any family member and certainly not an 8 year old, I imagine thats 1000 x worse

Thank you for sharing your experience, it is sort of a relief. I was robbed with gunpoints since I was 18 months old, and last time 40 days ago. I understand you perfectly, if it helps. It had been a traumatic experience to me.

Thanks for the report.. Seems the thieves are becoming bolder these days. I'm sorry to hear your child had to witness this. I hope you are both OK.

I had a gun pointed at me six times so far. It's horrible. You did the right thing: assumed the gun was real and showed no resistance. Both you and your son are alive. That's all that matters.

How awful - I'm so glad you and your son are okay. I can't imagine how scary that was and can't believe how bold some criminals have gotten. So sorry you had to go through that - what did the police say when you reported it?

So sorry to hear! Glad you are fine :) Certain neighborhoods in the city such as Soldati, Lugano, Liniers, Bajo Flores, Pompeya, Mataderos are to be avoided as this is not rare. It can happen anytime during the day or night. There are many dangerous villas close by. Definitely not places for foreigners.

SIX times:confused::confused: ?

I have a woman friend, 50 years old, quite wealthy (nice car) who was robbed three times her car at gun point.

Also, she has a house in Vicente Lopez and her ex BF (a 45 yo lawyer) came to visit her.
He was kidnapped by two guys right in front of her house, placed in the backseat of a car, forced to lower his head. He managed to take a quick look at the guys though and they had short hair and so on. She realized something had gone wrong, called the family of the guy then they called the police, half-bluffing saying they would also call other family members involved in the justice administration. Kidnappers didn't really have time to ask for a ransom, somehow they got "ordered" to free him but before doing so, the victim heard them saying : "that's ok, we can leave him here because we changed of jurisdiction"... You name it ---> strong suspicion that the police was involved.

Howard, I am in my 40s, I was robbed first when I was 18 months old, then some ten times more, one of them in my house, and the last time was 40 days ago, with a 38 long. I remember as one of the worst moments when the thief's hand was shaking like a bad parkinson while pointing towards me. The last times the thieves were younger than 15 years of age. All of that happened in Buenos Aires.
