I am looking for a few US-based expats who are living in Argentina for the medium term who would like to get the best exchange rate for their USD.

The process involves opening a brokerage account in both the USA and in Argentina, buying Argentine bonds in the US then transferring them to Argentina to sell on the local market. The official name for this is "contado con liquidación". This is an operation that is 100% legal and this is not the same as the black market exchange rates. You do not need a DNI to make this work.

After you have the accounts set-up, you can repeat this process as often as you want whenever you need to get pesos. You can also profit by selling these pesos for dollars here in Argentina (I will show you how to do this also).

I am not charging anything for sharing all this knowledge. Only asking that you do the first operation for me. I will loan you the funds in the USA and you will repay the loan here in Buenos Aires 72 hours later after you finish the operation. Send me a PM if you are interested.

Saludos!

Not to bash your post, but this is not a secret and the government is about to restrict CCL...You will need to be fully en blanco and with a verifiable income to be able to open a brokerage account in Arg ( Afip has tightened controls and are enforcing starting June ). This being said, I have a better way to profit with usd and an Arg broker account where you can make 18% profit each time you repeat this process and it is 100% legal ;) Are you day trading expatriado?

I never said it was a secret. But 99% of expats don't know how to do it. It is one thing to read in the newspapers, but it is another to actually do the operation. You have to find a broker in the USA and in Argentina who is trustworthy with reasonable commissions, etc. There are probably only a few thousand individuals in all of Argentina who are doing this operation. Most are big corporations and banks.

I was here for more than 3 years before I started operating in the local Argentine securities market. When I was a recent expat, I could have used the help from someone who had been here for a long time and knows how the market works. So, I am offering the same... friendly advice at no cost.

Go ahead and send me your strategy for an 18% return. I will send you one back with how to make a 90% return in just 7 months, in dollars. You can almost double your money in a very short time. The only restriction is that only non-residents of Argentina can do it. So if you are a resident here with a DNI, you have to do it in the name of a family member.

Saludos.

I didn´t mean to sound negative, sorry if I did. I want to support you in that with CCL expats that can operate in both countries could make a profit, but everything has to be super en blanco or you will get Afip´s attention very quickly. CCl has been out there for a long time, but when the dollar is scarce it becomes a good opportunity. Now the government is trying to pass regulations to shut it off, but it is currently still doable and profitable. I think we are more than one thousand doing it though ;) I PMed you.

What Argentine brokerages would you recommend?

I use Futuro Soc Bolsa and Rava, very good both, the later a bit more expensive.
