There is a famous cafe in San Carlos de Bariloche in the barrio of Belgrano called Helens Cafe with the best home made food . I was there during the pandemic and afterwards and my my it was cheap in that year 2021 . Breakfasts could be had for just 3 us dollars and the peso was 130 per dollar then . Nowadays the same breakfast is 6 times more in dollars.

Skiing In Bariloche in 2019 was ridiculously cheap, and some of the nicest skiing I’ve experienced. But those times are long gone.

Reminiscing about prices in 2021 cracks me up. I still remember 2007 too clearly, I guess. Even Don Julio was a bargain!
I, too, fondly remember a 3 peso choripan in 2007. (a dollar then)
but, on the other hand, the variety and quality of food has greatly improved since then as well.
I remember when every salad was grated carrot, iceberg lettuce, and raw yellow onion, for example.

inflation is global, though.
everything is more expensive in most first world countries than it used to be
argentina is not alone in this regard.

Was it even cheaper with the blue rate/WU rate factored in? 2007 would have been significantly cheaper but didn't have so much of a parallel rate. With real estate prices back in that time for sure but at some point post covid some of the costs for products, services, wages kind of lined up with closer to the official dollar but the blue was 3x more.

There was definitely that as well. Plus the credit card benefits thank to the differences in exchange (30% gain!). Now I'm getting all nostalgic.
