Recently have noticed the internet was too slow to operate, can not watch a youtube movie, and the speed on international pages, like banks was unacceptable.

I contracted 6 MB and have been billed accordingly for over a year but measured the REAL speed and have only 1/2 a Mega..!! I'm incensed for being over invoiced for years!

The best tool to measure the speed is the following http://www.speedtest.net/ people have found they have only a fraction of the contracted speed!! sometimes 1/10 .
http://www.biobiochi...0/1010870.shtml blog from Chile.

The speed when accessing international servers is always a fraction of the local servers, since the bandwidth needed is larger .

I'm at war with the provider had 2 techies over and they try to convince me that is fast enough, they don't believe on the speed tests.
Cable vision has a special web address to measure the speed of internet. http://sps.fibertel.com.ar/.
It has been claimed that this page is connected to a server that is not busy and gives better speeds.

If money is no object get as many different connections as possible (cable / adsl / 3g/4g) and if its bandwidth (downloads at the same time as streaming) rather than speed you can get a load balancer to split the traffic over the connections.

Alternatively you can bond all the connections into one big fat pipe using a remote VPN somewhere in the states/europe. (somewhere with a nice fast connection to the rest of the world)

I use a TL-R470T+ to load balance rather than bonding through a VPN as its fast enough for me and i like to route streaming through one connection and the other goes through a DNS redirector so i can get yank/UK netflix and the BBC etc.

When speedtesting i always try out a server in Brazil, one in Europe and one in Florida to get a good idea of the real speed.
At a friends place they had some major problems with fibertel, mine has been ok though.

Edit: just adding that i got fibertel after telecentro kept on going down regularly. Now with both of them i've never been without internet.... so far.

Could it be some internal issue? Perhaps an old modem or not configured/functioning properly? Do you use wifi?

Speeds are definitely not the best here in Argentina. From that speed test, we get 3 mb (not sure what we actually pay for, I'll have to consult with the husband) but so far as of late it has been working well. The only times we've had issues is when there are issues with the phone lines (which has happened on several occasions.) Unfortunately no fiber here and I think we're out of cablevision's internet service area, so stuck with adsl.

Oh and sometimes service fluctuates for no apparent reason. It may just be a temporary thing that service has slowed down for you.

No wifi here . 2 techies came over and no results! The notebook flies when at the corner cafe with 6 megas. Lucky you have 3 megas, I gry 1/2 a Mega-
Thanks
