I'm trying to send a credit card to the US. I took it to the Correo Argentino and they wanted $4100 pesos (~20 USD) to send it in a regular envelope. They demand it be sent certified mail. That sounds like a scam. But I've asked different people on different days and have gotten the same answer. Could that possibly be correct? Any suggestions?

Report the card lost and have the bank reissue and send it to the US address for free :)

I got a Correo Argentino close where I am. I could ask if you want, maybe they didn´t communicate clearly the information to you, or you should try going to another Correo Argentino office. Either way I could still ask if you want.

I'm guessing you're telling them it's a credit card? If you put it in regular, pre-sealed envelope before going to the post office you should be fine, just keep in mind that things can and tend to go missing once they get touched by the lovely folks at Correo Argentino and Aduana.
