Didn't VZ have the same situation? Lived fat on high oil prices and figured they could do it better than foreign companies. Once oil prices tanked they had no ability to operate efficiently or pivot beyond just giving out free stuff to people?

Whatever makes money gets attacked and taxed. The muppets in power are lucky they have soy beans and farms to pay their inflated salaries and corrupt contracts. It is certainly not a sustainable solution to let the weather dictate how much income the Government will make each year. But would you expect anything else - the majority are now on social benefits and dependent on Government assistance. No better way to control the population and thus their votes - make them dependent on you Like an abusive husband who's wife refuses to leave him because she knows things will be too hard at the start being alone even though long term it would be way better for her.
