Is the Milei "Transformation" Failing Already?

Confidence still building in Milei and Argentina ….making Argentina Great Again? Or not? The dollars are coming !

Monthly inflation in Argentina is dropping dramatically under President Milei's chainsaw attack on corruption and a bloated administration. He is progressing very well indeed. Mortgages now available in Argentina too. Great time to invest in real estate again perhaps ? 78EE761F-063C-4966-A34A-5431836E4419.jpeg

The currency in Argentina is pesos not dollars and this is what Argentines get paid in. In that regard inflation is dropping dramatically which is great news for the economy but perhaps not for expats with dollars to spend who have been living in a bubble with regards to prices in dollars. A new era is commencing.

Very true, during the Menem 10 year period as President, the minimum wage went from US$240 to US$ 2400 per month. )
If that were to happen now in faster, where would some expats be if the dollar stays way behind inflation..?

I think everyone who remembers what month it is now will find this graph absolutely ridiculous. The level of detail between May and December is just incredible. Today, inflation is like 300%, but by the end of the year, it will be 155%. They seem to know this for sure.

I lived in Buenos Aires during the Menem period when the peso was one to one with the USD. Business was booming at the time with a lot of international investment coming into the country and was a great time to be there for locals and expats alike. Pity it didn’t last too long. I hope Milei can get something as good and more sustainable hopefully.

You are confused. Dropping comparing to Milei because the raise was too much. Some items or services were up 400 / 700IMG_9697.jpeg% in 3 or 4 months. So, it is easy to improve that. Plus now he is having inflation in USD.

In those days everything had a razonable cost and happened the same than now (inflation in USD) but very slowly. The country went into bankrupt for being too expensive to export. Now everything is expensive in international prices with salaries 3/4 times less. It is like instead of learning from mistakes, they are more stupid.

Milei is not making the peso equal to the dollar so this is different situation. Back in Menem time Brazil devalued the Real and Argentina was stuck pegged to the dollar and couldn’t adjust so exports became expensive and hit the economy.
