Hello, I was wondering if there is a minimum age that you are allowed to apply for citizenship on the basis of being married to an argentine?

I read that you can get married at 16 with parental consent (does anyone know if thats true? do you only need a document for this or must parents be present?) and this got me wondering if they are allowed to apply for citizenship afterwards. And hey, if they want to marry at that age and their parents are fine with it, I see no problem, so I am guessing there shouldnt be a problem getting citizenship but I have no way of confirming that.

Bit of a pointless question but google is unable to answer it lol
I'm new here so sorry if this is the wrong place to post this!

Thanks for your replies!

I´m not sure about the age limit, but just a question.. Are you 16 and marrying an Argentine?? Because if so run, run as far away as you can! (not becaus of the argie part, but to marriage in general)

I am a local attorney specialized in citizenship.

It is true, you can marry at 16 with parental consent or judge consent if your parents don´t agree.

A document like a power attorney is needed, apostilled and translated by argentinian public notary or the same emancipating you, it means, that your parents give up patria potestad and you become an adult.

Once you are married, you are legally over 21 years old, so you can apply for citizenship but you will need legal assistance because judges will freak out.

However, this is just a fast answer, I am not going to look for precedents for an hypothetical situation.
Regards
