It's Friday Night And I Don't Have Plans

Ok, so its Friday night, and I have no plans. My friends have bailed, and I'm more or less new to Buenos Aires. Can anyone suggest an expat bar or something similar, I'd love to start making some new friends in BsAs. I speak a little Spanish, but at this point in my day I prefer English.

Gibraltar, an English Pub, in San Telmo, on calle Peru, between avenida Independencia and calle Estados Unidos (it's almost at the corner of Peru and Estados Unidos). Lots of young people, and many English-speaking people.

There's where I'd be if I could. Heard that they have a D. Ellington's Tribute band on fridays in June.

I second Gibraltar. It is definitely the best expats bar IMHO.

There is always El Alamo in Recoleta, but I only go there for the very rare US sporting event I want to see. It's definitely louder and rowdier.

Yea Gibraltar's set up for solo peeps wanting to socialise.

A Palermo option would be Wherever bar on oro and Santa Fe. Walk in, chat to the owners and they'll introduce you to the crowd. Best whisky collection in BA, great music.
