Hello,
Im new here, and I'm planning a very long trip (months) to vacation in South America. I just want to broaden my horizons and possibly scout out a place for my family and I to move to. We feel we need to get out of our every day lifestyle, as it just doesn't suit us. We need a change, and we all agree from what we've read, Argentina is calling to us. I presently live in Canada. I prefer rural areas, and am a huge outdoors maniac, so iv been scouting out places like Bariloche. What places would you recdomend for permanent living for a young family that doesn't include huge masses of people and is cooler and woodsier?

Thank you!

Hello Lizzyria,

We chose San martin de los Andes; basically we wanted a place that looked and felt like BC, Canada, but in Argentina (my wife is Argentinean).
You can read some of my other recent posts about why we don't like Bariloche and also not to keen on El Bolson (though if you want rural and colder, you might like it).

See these threads for more details:

Ask me (here or PM) if you have any questions.
See you soon!
Cheers

I'm going to keep promoting Villa la Angostura. Basically like San Martin de los Andes, but smaller. I like it small, so it suits us. Some people may get cabin fever here, that depends on what sort of a budget one is on.

Check out the Punilla Valley (where many Argentine natives retire). It's beautiful and has its own international community.
