Mailing a book to Buenos Aires

I ordered one book that I gave up on when it had not arrived two months later. About another month later it showed up at my door. So then I ordered three more, from three different venders. It's been six months and not a single one arrived.

I have better luck if it goes to my family member, then gets rewrapped and sent to me as a "gift." So maybe it would work but I would not chance a valuable book. It's ridiculous but books seem to be about the worst thing to try to get here. I do NOT LIKE electronic books. I want it in my hands where I can even mark it but alas, I have to adjust.

Arlean -- did you pay the expedited shipping? This is a must. The package will not arrive within it's time frame -- it will arrive a few weeks late, but this always seems to guarantee arrival. If you just go for the cheapest shipping option, forget about it. However I once ordered a book and didn't pay it -- it still showed up, just about 5 months later. Would have been fine, except that it was one of those Guide to your Pregnancy type of books and by the time it arrived, the baby was about to too!

In order to get a book shipped into Buenos Aires you first have to take it to two people.

Person 1 - a chemist. He will use complicated equipment to test for the level of lead in the ink. CFK has declared that books printed in foreign countries have high levels of lead in them and can be 'dangerous'. That being said, in a twist of fate, ONLY books with high levels of lead are being let in. That is where person #2 comes in.

Person 2 - an alchemist. So, if your book does indeed have high levels of lead (it is probably REALLY heavy) then you have to take it to an alchemist to see if he can turn the lead into GOLD. Now, you only want him to gold-ize a single page, as you have to leave the rest in its natural state.

So, once you get both people to fill out form ASHU-123-B, then you can ship the book to argentina. Now, when your book gets to Argentina, the inspectors will replace your 'dangerous' book with photocopies of the pages. For your safety you will not receive the actual book.

I hope this helps.
