Marriage & Property Ownership - Who Owns What?

Everything was separate all the 19 years.

Never crossed my mind (she would use the court).

Bummer!
Just curious: where di you stated about the separated assets? I just got married and we were never asked about it at the Registro Civil.

Assuming they married in Argentina & will divorce here, then the "bienes gananciales" rule applies.
Everything obtained after getting married (except for a "bien proprio" resold to purchase something, with proper proofs, etc.) should be split 50/50.

If they are separated since a certain time (separacion de hecho), then the assets purchased during the separation might be considered as "anomalos", hence they are "bienes proprios".

Those are not funny times (got ruined financially, emotionally, etc.).

Should be checked too if he can ask the divorce for a fault from her part.

Of course, a very good lawyer should be seen asap.

Wealthy people incorporate and buy everything under the company's name when married. That way, they do not have to face the 50/50 if/when they divorce

Another thing to explore: International Private law.

It should be researched if going to live in a country where the legislation would be more favorable to the husband could be worth it, to divorce in this country. But that's a very complicated subject.

Khairy in spite of my posting on the other thread re separation I have seen wily women absolutely seek to take every last thread from a guy who walked into love and marriage blindly. I'd like to say that as an independent woman that type of parasitical bitter behaviour appals me and I'm sorry it happened to you. Often women cry equality but on their warped terms. It is disgusting demeaning behaviour. After 19 years you deserved better.
