Masa Crítica today! (for bici riders)

Today the monthly Critical Mass or Masa Crítica will take place. Critical Mass started in San Francisco in 1992. Many bicycle riders gather together to ride through streets of a busy city as a 'mass', so motor vehicle traffic must yield. In Buenos Aires, there is a Masa Crítica on the first Sunday of every month! They meet at the Obelisco at 16.00hrs.

I have never participated in a Critical mass, but I plan on doing so today. Would any other bici enthusiasts like to participate, and maybe meet up a little bit beforehand?

Is there any reason why people need to scream while riding their bikes? Yesterday the CM riders when past my house and they were just screaming and making noise. I wonder why.

Oh, so that is called Masa Crítica... Although I love the concept, I don´t like their attitude (well, at least the ones I saw leading the mass a few months ago - they were a bit aggressive). Some taxi passengers heading for the airport pleaded for them to move and a guy told them... "I don't care if you miss your flight, planes pollute the air...!!" (???).

Ah, then our confusion is mutual. I suppose the confusion on my end coming from why you question the noise-making of bicycle riders who have an event and celebrate ONCE a month for a few hours, versus questioning the constant and enormous noise produced 365 days a year all hours of the day by cars.

Well, to begin with this topic is about Masa Critica not my opinion of "the constant and enormous noise produced 365 days a year all hours of the day by cars."*

I live on Santa Fe and the noise of the cars fades into the background and I don't notice it anymore. When I do notice it that means something happened. The Masa Critica people made more noise than the cars and buses do as noted by the fact that everyone was at the windows. And thus I question WHY they need to make noise and be aggressive? Isn't the point of bike riding to be different than the cars?
