Milei, an eccentric political outsider, has shown little sympathy. He has described the widespread complaint that “people can’t make it to the end of the month” as “colossal stupidity”

and dismissed the suggestion that a record 6mn people are failing to repay household debts, saying “no one put a gun to their head” to take out loans. Corruption scandals involving his team have eroded the anti-graft credentials that underpinned his early political brand.

I saw an interesting interview the other night that spoke of Milei being a reactionary tool to remove the disastrous incumbent administration, reduce inflation and "clean house". The speaker went on to say that now that his purpose has been achieved in the eyes of the general populace, he too will be replaced.
