Milei fires foreign minister for opposing US embargo on Cuba

"The country is going through a period of profound changes and this new stage requires that our diplomatic corps reflect in each decision the values of freedom, sovereignty and individual rights that characterise Western democracies," it said.
Are they joking here?

Libertarians opposing free trade lol. Milei probably threw Mondino under the bus, knowing full well a vote against Cuba would rebound badly against Argentina.
And once again, a contradiction. Libertarian thought says free trade is good, but Milei insists Communists are bad. So Mondino gets fired for voting to end the Cuba embargo. But at the same time, Milei gives the business of printing all Argentine to currency to China, who are also Communists.

One could almost wonder if Milei got a phone call from Avenida Colombia 4300 about Mondino.

Argentina has traditionally voted against the Cuban embargo

"Cuba has been under a U.S. trade and financial embargo since the early 1960s, but there are several exceptions that allow for the export of food, agricultural products, medical supplies, humanitarian donations, and several other categories of goods if they are to be used by the private sector and not the government".

I haven't checked, but I strongly suspect that the countries who support removing the US embargo against Cuba are also those which support Argentina's unbroken claim to the Malvinas Islands.

The don't see a hint of the irony in that statement it seems...
"the values of freedom, sovereignty and individual rights that characterize Western democracies"
Some of my favorite countries we trade with that meet this requirement include, but are not limited to:

- The United Kingdom (which totally respects Argentina's sovereignty, right?)
- Russia, which is engaged in an active war with Ukraine
- KSA, which had a US permanent resident and journalist murdered/dismembered in it's Turkish consulate while the Crown Prince watched
- Israel, an apartheid state conducting an ongoing genocide
- China, a communist one party state
- The United States, which actively drone strikes children in the Middle Eastern countries it doesn't have permission to conduct operations in
- Canada and Germany, which have done midnight raids against anti-apartheid Jewish protesters
- Spain, which is harboring Isabel Perón, a wanted criminal and material witness for her role in the Annihilation Decrees

Should I go on? If we actually believed this, we'd have to stop trading with ourselves even.

A few weeks ago, a man from Mar del Plata was arrested and accused of smuggling cocaine in Mendoza in bottles of talcum powder. Patricia Bullrich, in her infinite wisdom even Tweeted about it, celebrating the arrest, but it turned out it was talcum powder, and he was detained for 3 weeks, (not days, weeks) and then dumped on the side of the highway without his DNI without even an apology. Does this seem like the behavior of a "freedom, sovereignty, and individual rights" loving country? It sure as shit doesn't to me...

Anyways, anyone with half a brain knows not only is the embargo stupid, but so would Argentina's support for it out of hypocrisy alone. It has been interesting however to see even the most militant LLA trolls online call Milei a "cuck for America" following Mondino's departure. Even the base doesn't like how submissive the so called "lion" is with Uncle Sam.

I haven't checked, but I strongly suspect that the countries who support removing the US embargo against Cuba are also those which support Argentina's unbroken claim to the Malvinas Islands.

The resolution, titled “Necessity of ending the economic, commercial and financial embargo imposed by the United States of America against Cuba,” passed with 187 votes in favor, two against (Israel and the US), and one abstention (Moldova).

Only two countries support the embargo against Cuba: the USA and Israel. For some, this represents all of progressive humanity.
