Milei unveils bold plan to lure billions in undeclared dollars back home

Economy Minister Caputo infuriated when asked if he will repatriate the dollars he holds in overseas accounts?

Luis Toto Caputo had a moment of fury with a journalist who asked him if he was going to repatriate the funds he has abroad. Milei had said people with undeclared dollars are heroes..?

Jonathan Heguier, a journalist with El Destape, asked
"Are the Cabinet ministers going to set an example and bring in the money from abroad, or are they going to use their dollars under their mattresses? I know this is one of the cases of Minister Luis Caputo. I wanted to know if, in Milei's Argentina, a minister who has dollars under his mattress would use them under this regime?"

That only applies to the little people! Recall Massa claimed he only had $5000 US dollars.

That video is solid gold. Caputo getting all indignant, and then insisting "having accounts offshore is permitted. Any Argentine can do that", with his, "are you saying that I have money under the mattress?".

Of course you do.

Funds abroad should be legally declared to ARCA, so they do not fall in the "under the mattress" category. People like to confuse one thing with the other one out of convenience or ignorance. He mentioned before that he worked abroad. That question was out of line.

No it wasn't; hypocrisy is the homage that vice pays to virtue.

He wants the plebs to repatriate their dollars and capitalize Argentine banks while he is unwilling to do so himself as Economy Minister. That's the bullshit he got called out on, not the fact he has offshore accounts (which are legal) and it's why he's feigning indignance: if you trust your own economic policies why don't you put your money where your mouth is?

Very well said, Quilombo.
It was a clear case of "the lady doth protest too much, methinks".
