Well, at least don't exchange the dollars at the official rate, you'll get a lousy 4 peso 60 cents tru them. Try getting blue rate which goes for over 6 peso for every dollar. That might help a little

Mate I think most people cover it pretty well. If you want to stay here for a while, your going to need more than $1400. Thats about $9000 pesos even at the blue rate and can guarantee you you would burn through that in 1 month. And what about the plane trip home?. If your hell bent on this, I would spend another year saving up ATLEAST enough to see you through 6 months here ($10k min) plus have money to get you home should you need it.
