DO NOT SHIP ANYTHING TO ARGENTINA VIA THE POSTAL SERVICE!

My early dealings with Correo Argentina brought back memories of my interactions with the US Postal Service in New York City. The staff was incompetent and the response times slow. The big difference is the Argentine correo workers are polite. In New York City, “rude” is putting it nicely.

But now I have lost it as I sit at Correo International in Retiro, on what I am told will be a one hour wait to receive a package. This is my third visit to this place, which is 40 to 50 minutes from my home in Villa Crespo. On the first visit, the agent rejected my request because I had filled out the online form with my passport when I actually had a DNI. I had to go home and fill out the form again (which wasn’t easy because the site is a tech mess). Then I returned with the correct form and evidence of payment on Friday. I was turned away after that 40 minute trip because the power was out at the correo place. Today, I waited 27 minutes in the line for those with an appointment to receive approval of a pickup. I was then directed to another place in the warehouse where I was told it would take an hour for them to find the package and give it to me.

While Milei is gutting important services, maybe he should spend some time fixing this one!

If at all possible, try receiving packages through international courier service. I recently bought a pair a Rayban sunglasses through Amazon and they were sent by DHL with tracking information so I knew in which city the package was at all times. In about 2-3 weeks they were ringing my bell. I could even ask to retrieve it from a DHL office if I wanted to.

I am having a similar experience

An id card was posted from UK and its held by correo Argentina for last 3 months.. its of zero value. I Even paid the fees of 12000 pesos they demanded though its an id card but to no avail
