Not content with making bikers stick registration numbers on our helmets and silly waistcoats,Scioli has now authorised a new law forcing all car owners to have the hood (bonnet), trunk (boot) and four doors etched with the car registration number in a similar way to what is done now with the window etching.
Cost? $400 per vehicle.
Reason? More money for them.
Lower crime? I very much doubt it.
Off is the place to which they can f***k.

The etching can not be erased as they erase the chassis numbers?

I don't know. It depends on what is currently happened to stolen cars. Trying to tackle the resale value of stolen cars could very well affect the rate of carjackings.

I'm guessing that metal etching might be able to be covered up. On the other hand, glass etching, at least as it is done with automotive glass, is basically impossible to remove.

They should first change the way they operate controls.

Here, in the Northern suburbs, the guys from the Transito service operate controls in two specific spots nearby my house (half a day per week or so).
Problem is that you can spot them from very far so, not surprisingly, you see many cars turning right or left before the control. If only they would place agents in those side roads, with a few cops, to catch those guys... but no.

Much less often, the Gendarmeria operates such controls, they can be seen from far away but they chose a place where there are no side roads.
