New risk of expulsion for foreigners

For those of you who don't regularly follow the news and think that having citizenship is unnecessary after residency, I present the latest (bound to be thrown out by the courts) presidential decree:

"The Decree of Necessity and Urgency (DNU), signed by President Milei and published shortly after midnight Wednesday, states that foreigners who "incite or disseminate messages of hatred, discrimination and/or violence against the Argentine people" or who "insult national symbols" may be barred from entering or removed from the country."

If the current government really wanted to get rid of a number of "undesirable" foreigners, regardless of what they might have ever said that could be considered anti-Argentine," one thing they could do is raise the monthly income reqirement for the visa rentista and the visa pensionada, from five minimum monthly salarios to at least seven, if not eight or nine.

I think this is already long overdue. Increases in the past more than trippled previous monthly income reqirements. From $2.500 to $8.000 and then to $30.000. The "goal" always appeared to be $2000 USD per month.

What's "great" about the present system is that the salario mínimo itself doesn't have to be raised at any given time for the increase to only affect foreigners with temporary residency. An increase of three monthly salarios mínimos (to eight) would bring the total to slightly above $2,000 USD per month at a rate of $1.500 pesos to one USD.

I would not be surprised if and when it is increased, that it will be as high a $4,000 USD per month, a figure which today is less than ls required for "temporary residency" in México for ONE foreigner.

Ten salarios mínimos mensuales total about $2,500 USD, and twelve total just over $3,000 USD, I am surprised the current monthly requirement of five, which, at $1.500 to one, is only $1,255 per month, has not already been increased.

I'd be more concerned if I had posted about how to stay under ARCA's radar and avoid paying taxes in Argentina than posting about going to their officees and asking in person about my tax liability and/or any forms that I was required to file (as opposed to taking anyone else's (including accountants and lawyers) word for it.
