Hi everyone!

I've just come to Buenos Aires for 6 months to study Spanish and take some tango lesons. I stumbled upon info that next week there is Buenos Aires gay pride but did not find much information about that - only actual pride next Saturday but are there any other activities going on this week?

Some other relevant gay event info - I like clubbing and I've heard that there is also a big gay tango movement here. Anybody can comment on that?

Thanks a lot,
James

As to the gay tango thing, maybe you'd like to check this:

The festival is in November, but I guess you'll be here and could have a go.
If you want more info on gay milongas, have a look at this link:

Yes, the list is extensive, but just use "gay" as a search word and you'll find them. You can pick one (or more) depending on which part of town you live in - or which one you prefer. I don't know anyone who's been to one of those places (just because most of my friends are not that into tango, but we can appreciate a good milonga ambience), or else I would've recommended one :) I was thinking about checking this out sometime, but if you happen to go sooner, post back with your first impressions ;)

Hi James,

For gay tango, I would highly recommend La Marshall. On Wednesday at 10 PM they offer a group tango lession. The at 11 PM the lession ends and the tango dancing begins. You get to sit at a table around a dance floor and watch others dance or dance as well.

At around 1PM on most Wednesday they have professional dancers put on a show. I have seen about 7 or 8 shows and they are FANTASTIC!!! Whenever we have guests we take them here.

All of this for just 25 pesos.

Let me know if you have any other questions. I have lived here on and off over the last 4 years and love the city and the people here.

Saludos,
Bill

Hi James,

Well the big gay tango movement is not so big here in comparison with the overall amount of tango around you, but there are some quite decent places and teachers. I would also recommend (La Marshall), just I prefer their Saturday class and milonga as there are not so many people and it is possible to catch up some tango (profe Augusto is a very good and very copado (cool) tango teacher). Tuesdays in Tango Queer are also quite atmospheric (and Soledad is a fantastic profe!)

If you ask about clubbing (and bar hopping) then you could really be spoilt by choice with, perhaps, Monday the only day with less possibilities to go out. As an IT freak and iPhone fan I can recommend you Gayjin app which, to my mind, covers most of the options.

Suerte,
Arturo
