Leo House is a Catholic hotel. There is a convent upstairs. It is like a two or three star hotel. Decent and clean but basic. Because they are a religious institution they do not charge tax. Open to all religions.
 
I stay at the Leo House off and on when I'm in NYC.It used to be a nunnery.Sergio's adjectives are exact.However,it is usually quite solidly booked
.For example last Oct.'15 for Sept.'16 almost one year in advance.I booked at U$D 90 a day a single room with shared bath There is a toilet and washbasin in the room to shower you must go down the hall.They advise you to book at least 3 months in advance and even then I'd say you'd be lucky to get such a deal.I believe it's on W.27St.
