I am subscribed to this channel and I watch (listen to) most of BCP's uploads.

I have often thought to myself that the Democrats will say anything they can think of in opposition to President Trump, even if it means contradicting their previous positions. I either don't remember or never heard their criticism of DJT for not dealing with Maduro during his first term as President;

It sounds like Schumer was mocking Trump's claim he could 'bring democracy to Venezuela', which didn't happen in the first term. Similar to Trump's 2024 campaign promise to bring peace to Ukraine within a day of taking office. The Dems wanted Maduro out, but not via the method we're seeing (snatching him up and removing him to a court in NYC). I mean, there's a lot of countries that are signatory to the ICC's rulings, but no one is invading Israel and forcibly extraditing Netanyahu for war crimes (yet).

In any case, I think there was a lot of back-room dealings we aren't privy to. China seems to be surprisingly mellow about the incident, so far... they demand his release, but no threats, sanctions, whatnot whatnot.

China has just received the best fortune cookie ever, one that said "sphere of influence" inside when it was cracked open: a sphere of influence where a more powerful country can do whatever it likes with its unfortunate neighbours. Taiwan, here we come What's not to like in the events of the past few days for China?

The (literally) trumped-up US indictment against Maduro and his wife is ridiculous. "Possession of machine guns"... Any half-way competent defence laywer should be able to make mincemeat of it.

Inside Venezuela there is no clarity on how things will go forward, anyone with money and/or ties to the regime is removing themselves asap. Caracas (Maiquetia) airport was wall-to-wall private planes arriving yesterday, doing a quick turnaround, and then leaving, with transponders off (inferred from comparing the flightradar24 map with the manual count of a friend living in front of the airport)..So people with the means to are watching and waiting from safer places, for now.

I read a claim that Trump's real motivation for kidnapping Maduro was Maduro's nightly shows where he danced and sang "Imagine" by John Lennon in his kindergarden English... apparently that really pissed Trump off.
