Hey all,

This is kind of a follow up regarding that "Peanut" payment app I posted about a bit ago.

I noticed on the company's twitter that someone mentioned the app could be used to withdraw effectivo directly at ATMs and thought I'd document my testing of that for the forum.

So, seems there are some ATMs around the city ("Red ATM" Brand), that lets you pull cash with just a mercado pago QR code (locator here https://www.red-atm.com.ar/). I can confirm that this is right and still works after taking a trip over to a local carrefour that had one of their ATMs in the store. I think the ATM allows up to 500k ARS at a time, and it just prompts a mercago pago type QR code.

Had no issue scanning/paying directly through the Peanut app and got the "Dollar Crypto" rate over the dollar blue. ATM fee was 1.8k on 100k withdraw.
So all in all, paid $68.11 USD for $101,800 (1USD = 1,494.47ARS as of yesterday)

Summary for anyone who didn't see the other post; for whatever tech reasons "digital bank/kinda crypto not really crypto" apps have stated getting popular. "Peanut.me" is one I found that doesn't strictly require a DNI because its a global use program that lets people join with any nationality. It lets you pay USD > ARS with mercado pago QR codes at the crypto rate because it technically holds in USDC. (their site here https://peanut.me/, if it's not allowing new sign ups I think I had a refferal code in my other post).

I'm not hyper into the tech of it all, and don't advocate anyone moving all their cash into an app system, but have been absolutely loving using it like a preppaid gift card logic. Easily beats WU fees and is much more convient for anyone without DNI. If anyone has experience with the DNI only programs, I'd love to hear how those one's do too. I suppose these "crypto for people who don't know or want to acutally know any crypto apps" are an answer to all the bank failures here.

You still had to enter passport info though, correct? Instead of DNI (ie, its not anonymous)

To access the bank related features, yea you need some kind of ID verification (I think a lot of ID types work).

Minding can make an account with no info, but to turn on anything that interacts with a bank you legally need to do some level of KYC.
But if your going full off-grid libertarian, it lets you use non-bank functions with no ID or KYC (I think the Mercado Pago function is bank though, not totally sure).
