Norwegian reviews on SkyTrax do not look too promising.

"Low cost" airlines always struggle to get decent reviews - it can be used as an excuse to not be on time and provide lesser service. You get what you pay for as they say. Still any competition is usually a good thing because it puts pressure on prices and hopefully provides incentive to let market forces work and improve service.

I agree that any competition would probably be helpful. But Jetblue, Southwest, were two low cost airlines in the US that, through their excellent service, morphed into very popular major carriers.

Jetblue is a great airline - haven't flown much with Southwest. The low cost carriers in Australia and Europe are less than impressive relative to the majors.
