I can't afford ink for our old HP printer anymore. The black and colour comes to 330 pesos! 2-3 times the US/UK cost.
What's your latest Price Ouch!?

Inkjet printers are the worst.

unless you are printing pictures old ribbon or laser printers are so much more economical

I ditched my color printer and got a laser black and white. While being more costly, it wasn't that much more so, and you can get the cartridge refilled a couple of times I think for a much lower price than buying the cartridges. Additionally, you ought to check refilling your current cartridges as a refill can be very cheap. I tried the infinite ink system that you can buy here but it is full of bugs if you don't print something out everyday so I don't recommend it.

I tried refilling the cartridges but they didn't work. It's an old printer bought in 2007 back when things were affordable. I would def go for just black and white if I was buying a new one. Was a shock to see that the colour cartridge I bought off mercadolibre 6 months ago has gone up 50%!

At least HP printers don't have counters. I bought a used epson from a friend recently, only to find that it uses a counter to determine how many pages you've printed, and forces you to buy, for example color ink after the set number of pages even if you didn't print a single page in color the whole time (and it won't print black if the color cartridge is "empty"! I could not find a hack to get around this. He was nice enough to buy it back from me as he hadn't know that when he sold me the printer. I am now waiting on a parallel cable adapter from China for an ooold HP printer. I try to stay paperless, but my wife is into printing things. Very crazy and annoying business model the whole cheap-printer / expensive-ink thing.

I had the exact same problem! So annoying.

The packet of materials for just one class I'm taking is going to cost more than 300 pesos. That's a bunch of copied pages bound together with a plastic spiral, for the record, not any actual publications. I was mildly surprised, only because I've never purchased anything similar in BA so it seemed expensive. Assuming Industria Argentina copy machine ink doesn't exist, I really shouldn't have been surprised. I'm getting the blue rate this time around so I can't complain. But really, can anyone actually claim to be surprised when prices jump on things they purchase regularly? I hadn't been in the city in some time so I expected everything at the chino, the transportation, restaurants, etc. to be more expensive than before. Coming back after some time away hasn't really surprised me at all in terms of prices.
