overstatement?

The overlapping fiefdoms of multi-tiered government make the implementation of new laws difficult.

Say, who mows your nose hair.

If one can agree that political stability is imperative to building and maintaining a vibrant capitalistic economy, then consider:

Federal government is divided into 3 branches (executive, judicial & legislative) that act as canceling agents to slow or stop change.

Presidential terms are for 4 years.

A reasonably successful President can extend his White House tenancy to 8 years.

The President cannot be recalled or voted no confidence.

The President and Vice President are selected by electoral college and not direct plebiscite.

The constitution provides for the extraordinary succession of the President without election.

All policy is instituted through a series of monolithic, top down bureaucracies managed by civil servants adverse to change and who are largely ineffectual.

Armed services are subject to posse comitatus.

The Congress is a non-parliamentarian, bi-cameral system.

House seats only are apportioned on population thus allowing conservative, sparsely populated areas over representation in Congress vis-a-vie their 2 Senators per state.

Senate terms are 6 years and staggered.

The Senate minority can filibuster unless cloture is invoked.

Treaties require Senate approval to be binding.

Congress is specifically prohibited from making any law except as provided for by the Constitution.

Constitutional amendment requires ratification by the states.

The enactment of new law is restrained by judicial review.

Supreme Court justices are appointed for life and their nomination requires Senate confirmation.

Supreme Court justices move towards the center as a function of time.

The Supreme Court adheres to stare decisis.

The political landscape is predominated by only two parties.

Politics trend to the center - progressivism is a joke and rightwing extremism is a media created myth.

No regime has ever been changed by force.

Elections enjoy only modest voter participation.

The press is commercially owned.

Federal, state and local governments maintain large police forces.

The overlapping fiefdoms of multi-tiered government make the implementation of new laws difficult.

It must be wonderful to wake up in the morning and smell the coffee ... in Brazil.
