Perm. Res expires before DNI Turno

I need some advice on a Permanent Resident/DNI issue, that I am not
sure is really an issue. I've searched the forum and couldn't find anything along this line.

Since my Argentine husband and I had been planning to move to Argentina from the states for some time, I was able to do all of my Permanent Resident paperwork through the
Argentine Consulate in NYC, so that when I entered Argentina, I had
the "Decreto 1023/94 with Categoria Permanente, Art. 15A" (permanent
resident of Argentina through marriage to an Argentine citizen) stamp
in my passport. At Ezeiza, they saw that stamp and on my entrance
stamp, they marked Permanente Art. 15A.

This is what I am concerned about -- The "Decreto 1023/94 stamp" from
the Argentine Consulate states "Vigencia Visado: 1 Ano". The one year
will be up later this month, but my DNI Turno (before the system
updated was July 30, 2010, and after the update it) is May 14, 2010.
By the time I get to my Turno, my permanent residency is expired. In
addition, in June, after my DNI Turno, but most certainly before I have
the DNI, I will be travelling for a time outside of Argentina.

So these are my questions:
1. Does "Vigencia Visado: 1 Ano" really mean that my status as
permanent resident expires after one year, and if so...
2. Do I go to Progorras de Permanencia at the office of Migraciones in
Puerto Madero to extend my permenant residency?
3. If I have to renew my permanent residency, does any one know the cost?

I apologize for writing a book, but I wanted to give all possibly
relevant details.

As far as I know (and have been told by multiple sources), permanent residency only requires that you be in Argentina one day every two years, but I imagine that there could be exceptions.


Even if your situation is "different" you only have to go to migraciones in Puerto Madero and get an updated certificate that verifies your permanent resident status.

It will cost you 50 pesos.

I know that much from experience.

Your visa does "expire" in one year, however, you have one month after the expiration date to resolve the problem. Go to Prorogas at the DNM in Puerto Madero. To my knowledge long term visas (as of this year) cost 600 pesos to renew. However, I have a student visa, I am not a permanent resident. Getting your DNI will possibly take more than a year so you deal with migrations, which is a branch of the Ministry of the Interior.

Thanks for the guidance. I'll be going to Migraciones soon then and I'll post on how it turns out.
