Products that are identical in America but suck here

Gillette mach 3 razors. In the USA a 4 pack lasts me a year. Here the exact same 4 pack lasts me a couple of months, and that's if I shave so hard im practically ripping the skin off my face

Mortein bug spray. In the USA a couple of seconds will kill anything. Here with the exact same can you can spray for 20 seconds and the bugs couldn't care less

What is the reason for this? Are these international brands manufactured for Argentina market locally ?

Correct they are manufactured here for the local market. They are not shipped on a boat from the US. You learn over time which products are actually good. Regular Raid (blue) does not work, the Raid Max (silver) does. It's obviously more expensive.

My theory why? Because price sensitivity. Basically all products have cheaper product tiers here than the US for the lower markets. I suspect many of the cheaper products are simply diluted versions and you are in fact paying more. I regularly shop at a mayorista and they constantly have bulk items more expensive per gram than the smaller packaging. It's a minefield of scams out there and sadly many price conscious shoppers either don't notice or can't afford to circumvent it. Find a product you like the quality of and shop wisely - prices vary widely. Oh and throw whatever brand loyalty you have out the window.

Well there's a huge difference between the ones you buy back home and the ones in carrefour here even though the packaging is identicle

buy them in quantity on MercadoLibre.....way way way cheaper. I prefer Mongolian razors.

In January 2021 there was the following thread: Are food and drinks being adulterated to deal with the lockdowns and inflation?
I commented as follows: "Flying insect killers don't seem to work either. They can't be putting much of the lethal agent in each can. Those little flies in the bathroom just fly straight through the spray, and even seem to enjoy it being buffeted around. Half an hour later they haven't fallen to the floor."

Find the beardiest person you know and ask them, that's how we do it down here. Recommendations are more valuable than a TV commercial.
