Questions About Buying A House

Yes that is a tiny space but its livable. If you want bigger you should look in other neighborhoods. You can get 2500 sq 4t 4bed/2bath with a garage (probably 1 car) in a lot of neighborhoods in BA for 300k but not in the most expensive ones.

So amI figuring around US$250~$300k for a 80 sq mtrs condos? But that tiny space is only less than 900 sq feet and to US standards I think it is way too small ? My house is approx. 2500 sq feet. 4 bed room, two full bath, plus 3 cars garage and sits on a 3/4 acre parcels. So I thinking, 80 is way too tight? Am I right in imageneing this?

Hybrid San, I hope you are well. I have a six bedroom 5bathroom house on an acre of land in the rolling hilled suburbs of Philly. Here I live (year round) in a 70 sq meter apartment in Recoleta. I am perfectly happy although its difficult if I have out of town guests. Would I like more space, yes, BUT I have learned that I can be perfectly happy with a lot less physical space, and material things,in my life. In fact happier than when caring for the possessions and large houses I've always had. I have a 1 bedroom plus maids bedroom, two bathroom, kitchen, living dining room with a large balcony( now full of my beloved plants, herbs and spices) apartment on the sixth floor . This apartment, wonderfully situated in the heart of Recoleta, that I share with my beloved dog and cat (that I brought with me when I moved here 7 years ago), has served me very well. Never been robbed here. Never feel unsafe. Walk many places. Know my neighbors. Less truly can be more and its a wonderful lesson learned for me. Hope to meet you in person some day!

My calculator says 80 m2 @ $2,500US / m2 = $200,000US. We are a family of 4 and live comfortably in 80 m2. What we don't have is 1) separate dining room 2) separate living room, 3) Multi-media room, 4) Man cave, 5) Garage. Is this just you or do you have a family?

[background=rgb(252, 252, 252)]You can figure between $2100 and $2500 m2 for the covered area depending upon location, condition, amenities, etc. The outside area is usually worth about 50% of the covered rate.[/background]

We did much better than that, even using your upper parameter. I guess the market is not dead, or we were extremely lucky.

lacoqueta-san, Very concise in a few words but very comprehensive in scope! I want to see this comment posted in my question blog : Why you chose Bs As or Argentina vs other countries: I think all people lurking from abroad and reading BAexpat forum appreciate this post very much...Sure, I definetely will PM you when visiting there. I'am supposed to go under the scalpel for my foot/ankle surgery on the 27th of this month. Hmmm, doable in 80M2 of space for headcounts of 4! Well, then just for me I guess sufficient then....But, I'am very into video so (#3) has got to have privileadge and my Sony T.V. is 70 incher, so I really need depth in the measurenments of at least 4 meters in order to appreciate the 1k plus definition, it got be viewed in HD resolution no less.! But good to hear that 80 sq meter is good enough...

Husband and I live in 53 square meters (plus cat). We have double high ceilings so there is a loft space for sleeping not included. While I would love one day to have outdoor space (a terrace or even a yard), this is more than enough for us. Less time cleaning (or less time contracting your cleaning girl!). BUT our apartment has wonderful space allocation--we have an office, an old "dependencia" (maids quarters) that we use as storage but will soon turn into a workshop. It is also very open, lots of light, so it never feels small.
What I do suggest is designing a good shelf system--you can go fancy or you can do what we did, which is use track shelving. Almost every wall has a shelf.
Also, just like in New York City, many people entertain guests in cafés and restaurants, though we do throw a dinner party every once in a while.
