Rage boils over amid Argentina’s unrelenting femicide crisis

It may not be a crisis but it can be avoided in the future if we dare to educate our young to be inclusive and fair.

the murder of Guadalupe could have been avoided if the planets had aligned. If the “friend” had understood that the aggressor was in the wrong. If the justice department had acted on the threatening messages. If the 32 year old aggressor hadn’t been unable to take no for a no.

Now there is a one year old child without a mother.

UN Homicide Statistics show that 16.4% of homicide victims in Argentina are female, vs the world average of 21.3%, or the US rate of 22.2%. For every woman killed in Argentina, 5 men are killed. Argentinians are actually significantly worse at killing women than the average country.

You wish.
However, reality is different.
For a toxic relationship you need 2.
It has nothing to do with education, instead, with parents responsability, domestic violence and mental health.
I have shared room with many hearing of domestic violence where judges felt tied because the woman didn’t want to him to be arrested or even to end the relationship, they just wanted the judge to scare him so he stop hitting her. Later these are the women who finish dead. A Chronicle of a Death Foretold.
As a father or mother you have responsabilities. Police men usually are violent people.

Since the category of "femicide" is somewhat vague and a recent invention with no officially set criteria, there really is no way to quantify these murders as a "crisis" or a crime trend. It becomes a slippery slope when you start to categorize violent crime according to assumed ideological motives involved instead of the actual circumstances and seriousness of the crime itself. According to the UN, globally men make up about 80% of all murder victims.

I agree mostly apart from bold, because it implies a victim is toxic. Some people are victims and I think you are suggesting "2 to tango" and that the victim (who could be a man or woman for the sake of argument) could just leave, and by implication is toxic too for not leaving or not speaking up. Or are you saying there are no victims in these situations and everyone is as bad as each other? Even if the victim feeds the toxicity by not leaving or speaking, the problem would not be there at all if the abuser didn't abuse. All the toxicity comes from the abuser, unless we are going down the road of women/men desrve to be beaten, raped, murdered.

Edit to add and unrelated, but the categorization is the problem here. Bajo points out 315 murders of women each year. Clearly 315 too many, but compared to other nations and percentages, it's more or less normal. However, how many of the murders here are from partners or husbunds and how does that compate to other countries? That kind of statisic could tell us if Argentina has a big problem or not.

No, for a toxic relationship you need one toxic person and one other person who is too scared or weak to end it. In the case of the murder in Villa la Angostura there was one toxic person and another person constantly reporting him to the police who did nothing.
Education has everything to do with it. Education is societies way of showing what is acceptable and what isn’t. That’s why we teach three year olds that they shouldn’t hit their peers or touch anyone without their permission.
