Recession Continues Under Macri

It's certainly paradise when compared to the dire situation in Venezuela, but then, that's a comparison peculiar to the Argentine psyche.
It's also pleasing that I have a new word for my lexicon: overvaluated.
We can all learn a great deal from our in-house lawyer, The Good Doctor.

Simply a matter of understanding that it's a bullet we dodged more narrowly than one might imagine. For now.

I have a strong feeling Cristina or her croonies will be back in next elections.

It seems a lot of the people that responded to this topic share a commonality: no patience!

Economic reforms and results take time. Some of you seem to expect that Macri holds a magic wand, and that on Jan 1, 2016 he could have used it to produce the following immediate results: zero inflation, sustainable economic growth, full individual security (like in Japan or Saudi Arabia), and perhaps a few other things too. But reality is not that simple. The key question to ask is: are Macri's measures leading the economy the right way? You may disagree with me, and that's OK, but let's assume for a moment that he is taking the right steps. When can you expect results? Let me answer this question by giving you an analogy.

Suppose you are a man and want to get a woman pregnant. What is the process you need to accomplish that goal? First of all, you need to find a woman that shares your goal, and then you need to have intercourse with her. But that's not all, because two other elements need to be present: the woman has to release her egg at the correct time and your sperms have to swim up to establish contact with the egg. Neither of these things might happen immediately, yet you are using the correct process to get her pregnant.

Let's further assume that after several tries, you succeed in getting her pregnant. Notice that the cause/effect is not perfectly correlated; it could have taken you years to get her pregnant, yet you were doing the right thing; namely, having intercourse. Once she is pregnant, does she have the baby immediately? No, it normally takes nine months. Can you speed up the process by, for example, having her eat more, or jump to see if the baby drops sooner? No. You need to be patient, and wait the regular nine months, and even then it could take a few extra weeks.

In sum, your goal was to get a woman pregnant, and your process was correct, but still it took time to get the desired results.

Let's go back to Macri, and further assume he is taking all the right measures but the results have not been positive, yet. That's natural. It takes time for good financial and economic measures to produce positive results. Just like getting a woman pregnant and having a baby takes time, so does fixing an economy.

I believe things will turn out well. I know; it took me four years to get my wife pregnant, and believe me, we tried very often (how about daily!!), but we did end up with four great kids! Good results don't happen overnight; things take time.

I think Macri is on the right path; he just needs more time to show the effects of his current and future measures. Be patient; he will get Argentina pregnant!

Great analogy. let me build on it:
Over a year ago, Macri has declared that "he wants to get a woman pregnant". What has he done so far to accomplish that goal?
Has he gotten into shape, changed his wardrobe and improved his appearance in order to become more attractive tot he opposite sex? Nope.
Has he gone out to nightclubs or bars trying to meet that woman? Nope.
Has he been checking the personal classifieds or Tinder, to try to meet someone? Nope.
Has he at least picked up some books on dating, seduction or picking up girls in order to improve his game? Nope.
So far, all he has done was stay at home masturbating to midgets on donkeys porn, played video games, and eaten junk food.
And when inquired about his lack of progress, his reply so far has been: "patience, impregnating a woman is a complex and difficult matter. it does not happen overnight".

Rickilivi, the plan they are enforcing is the same than in 1978 and it didn't finish well (external debt grew rom 4 billion up to 90).

Why now is this going to work out?

Hilarious! :)

Bajo cero: why will Macri's plan work? Because it will! When you make an investment in a company, one of the key issues to look at is the quality of management. I think Macri has a very good track record. What he did at Boca was outstanding; at the city, he made one critical transformation: the metro bus. I think he, and his team, have the qualities and experience that are necessary to confront problems and find the correct solutions.

With regard to the plan of 1978, it was lead by mass murderers. No comparison.

rickulivi
. I agree Maci's plan will work .In fact it is already working .
camberiu :
Macri's plan so far has been somewhat more than "Patience"
1) The new tax law is a very good example. This was reached on the premise of a "win -win solution" wirh the unions. A first in Argentina's history.
2) Using the same compromising premise another agreement with the petroleum unions was also reached for Vaca Muerta which he projects to duplicate with the construction unions in the planned reactivation of the economy..
3) These in Argentina represent a huge result factor.
Fimally, I am not a prude bur was the sensationalist comparision with " the donkeys and midgets porn " really necessary to make a point?
I would have expected something more factual from a learned student of Latin American History like yourself.
