A discussion on C5N TV by Civil Law specialists on the New Codigo Civil recently approved in Congress stated;

A Rental agreement in US Dollars is not legally valid, it can not be enforced in a Court of Law. The Tenant is obliged to pay the equivalent amount in local Pesos, at the Official exchange rate.

Can Bajo Cero or other local legal experts give a qualified opinion on the subject.

If the govt's idea is to drive up rents, this could work.

I didn t read the new law. But in the old one was like this and i have pointed it many times. So, nothing changed.

The law has been like that at least since I arrived here, it's just there's never been enforcement. However if anyone tries to force you to pay in dollars you can always just say "I'm sure the AFIP would appreciate hearing a call about the issue", and soon either you will suddenly become an unlikely candidate for the rental agreement, or a price in pesos will quickly be agreed. However I'm sure most owners would opt for the former rather than the latter, in the hopes that they could still find a naive soul to pay them dollars.

A while ago wasn't there a decree from the central bank that tourist services paid in cash had to be paid in the local currency of the person availing of the services?

Short term lets probably would still be exempt.

The prohibition on the law means that you cannot enforce at Court the payment in usd.

So if you're a non resident... rents are ONLY in pesos, buquebus ticket can be paid ONLY in foreign currency. Got it.

International travel by nonresidents must be paid in foreign currency BQB. Local services are sold in pesos ! Except Real Estate purchases??

It's been this way for ages. And has been posted MANY time as such. "No contracts in dollars are legal." [unless they are international trade contracts}
