Resident only fares clarification for Aerolineas Argentina

Near misses???? Is there a list of those somewhere? Not aware of that with FlyBondi.

Re Flybondi: Besides for the abortive test flight, and the takeoff in which the tail hit the runway - add to the list of near misses the case where they weren't sure their landing gear had opened, and had to make several low passes over El Palomar airport so that they could try and assess from the ground whether it had indeed come down properly.
There were other occasions as well. One in which an issue with the flaps meant the pilot had to declare an emergency before eventually landing safely. Another when the pilots bust a tire when departing Paraguay and had to divert to Ezeiza instead of El Palomar where the plane was towed off the runway, etc. It turns out they knew the tire pressure was low but opted to take off anyway. (Just to bring across how dangerous this was - a similar situation with a Canadian airline resulted in the tires catching fire, which ultimately led to the plane crashing and the death of all 261 on board).

Considering that they're operating for barely a year, that's an awfully long list.

And this is talking strictly about safety issues, not even mentioning idiocy like when these clowns informed the passengers on a Bariloche-Cordoba route - once they had landed - that they had dispatched their luggage by truck. Yes, you read that right. And yes, they didn't let them know until they'd landed.

It's really a shame, because the idea of flights so much cheaper and so many more options is such an appealing one. The problem is, at some point you put two and two together, and start to inch toward the conclusion that they're cutting corners - on things on which corners must not be cut.

Here is a tripadvisor review of Aerolineas Argentinas from one week ago:

Worst airline ever
I don't even know how many flights they have canceled me over the years. This last one we were left in limbo at immigrations trapped and stranded. No one to allow us back in the country because they canceled the flight without any explanation so people started entering the country as a mob, which was the same situation at customs. Made several lines to try to reschedule but no acceptable flights were available. Made another line to get a refund, but was told to go home and call. Tried to call but they do not answer until monday because they don't work on weekends. Will probably never get my money back and lost my trip along with all my plans in Punta del Este.

Seems like the lesser of two evils with FlyBondi and Aerolineas Argentinas....

With either just make sure to purchase the ticket with a good credit card so you don't get screwed. You at least have some recourse....

Yes, by all means continue talking about Aerolineas based on an anonymous Tripadvisor review to a room full of people who actually use this airline.

And having already went so far as to consult Tripadvisor, feel free to skip mentioning the aggregate ratings, which just might mean more than one guy. Attaching those for your reading pleasure.

Lord knows that Aerolineas is not the best airline in the world, I will be the first to tell you what things they actually suck at.
But you, sir, are just spouting crap.

P.S. Still waiting for that apology, for accusing me of shilling for Aerolineas on the basis of nothing whatsoever.

P.P.S. I actually went ahead and checked all Aerolineas AEP-PDP flights to see if this guy’s story even made sense.
It turns out that in the past two weeks, there was precisely one cancellation of a flight on that route. This flight was the last flight out on a Friday night, so the story checks out.
The part about not getting a refund is BS. I can understand the annoyance about a trip being cancelled, but to have to wait until Monday for a refund does not sound insane.

By no means the lesser of two evils. With Aerolineas, you are paying more, and the experience is decidedly suckier. The website is annoying, the price structure sometimes convoluted. But the likelihood of something going wrong is way smaller. The likelihood of a safety-related issue is incomparably smaller.

I truly hope Flybondi cleans up their act, in the meantime Norwegian looks good. And their higher prices actually make me more comfortable - I fear that Flybondi's act is simply unsustainable.

According to Skytrax, an entity which ranks the top 100 airlines in the world, Aerolineas Argentinas doesn't even figure in the top 100 for 2018 (nor has it ever in any year). Delta Airlines and Alaska Airlines come in at 37 and 38, respectively. American Airlines, which one poster ridiculed on this thread, was ranked 71.

But AA is the 5th best in South America. LOL. Right behind customer service stalwarts like Avianca, Azul, LATAM and Sky.

Why would anyone fly an airline that can't even crack the top 100?

where is your favorite flybondi on that list?

Guy is trolling. Don’t engage.
Sounds like someone has control issues.

I'm not sure why defense of Aerolineas Argentinas is a personal crusade, but it's a losing battle. The the people of Argentina, both resident and traveler, are better served by competitors offering improved service at a lower cost. Aerolineas is socialist trash and the sooner it dies, the better.

let me know when one of these improved competitors comes along and i'll give them a shot.
