We are expats who have lived in B.A. for over 20 years and are now leaving to live in CBA and USA.
We have lots of furniture, many early american style pieces for sale. They are not antiques but several are Williamsburg reproductions.

Also, mirrors, wall decorations, books, paintings, kitchen small utensils, etc. for sale. Our furniture, which we brought here from the USA is mostly solid cherry and some pieces of mahogany. The dining room set with 6 chairs is cherry as is the hutch and sideboard. The sale items are too numerous to mention and I am too old and computer-illiterate to post photos( I might be able to get someone to help me with this, on second thought).

May I add, that over the years, we have visited the site and have garnered much useful info.
Thank you,
Frances.

Hello Frances,

we have a Classified section in this forum where you can post pictures of your stuff as well as contact details (if you want to). Or you can have people PM you to avoid publishing your email and mobile number publicly.

Getting decent wood in CABA is dam-near impossible or uber expensive. The proliferation of this cheap quality , sad, useless pine they peddle in this city is heartbreaking. Alternatives are limited in quality, dimensions, quantity and/or still too expensive. I do quite a bit of carpentry that requires the use of hard woods, but the only resources available to a regular-Joe is softwood PINE... and not even a good pine.

But why? Argentina has jungle regions right? Then it should produce good timber in vast quantity aren't they ?

Argentina produce many things, that does not mean that it is sold internally.
There are other species. My point is that that availability is not abundant, nor affordable for the average person. I tried to start a carpentry business a few years ago but this was one of the biggest problems to overcome. I could start working with quebracho (a native hard wood) but with the techniques that I use (joinery); I would be changing blades/bits on my table saw/router on a weekly basis. Import restrictions meant that I was not able to get the proper tools and accessories to work the wood; at least not affordable.

Wikipedia:
Among the most important regions in Argentina for the industry are the provinces of Misiones, Corrientes, Entre Ríos, and Buenos Aires. These four provinces form the country's eastern border with Uruguay and Brazil, and comprise 80% of the total cultivated area. [sup][1][/sup]
Forests are composed of the following species:[sup][1][/sup]

Yes, the variety and quality of wood available in Argentina- I should say B.A. and CBA. is rather limited. We built a small home in the province of Cordoba and were able to get cedar, costly, for the doors and window frames. The rest of the wood is pine. The sad part is that much of it was untreated and the doors developed holes and we were told that this was due to insects eating the wood. My husband was instructed to inject somthing into the holes and he did this. This helped for the doors affected at the time. Now we have more "infected doors" and the holes are quite ugly. These are inside doors. the outside doors, cedar wood, don't have this problem. It was too expensive to have cedar used inside and besides that, we were clueless. We still love our home and are satisfied with the workmanship.
Live and learn!
