School Dni Bank Account Help!

You don´t need to enroll but you need to take 6 exams for your hs degree to be recognized. The only requirement to enter UBA is a HS degree. My suggestion is that to learn language cheaper than in a Spanish class is to enroll in night school. You are going to need help to pass the exams.
I also had a university degree and was actually teaching HS in Argentina, but I still had to go back to HS to take the exams. The history teacher actually didn´t really take the test, as I have a degree in history, so he said it would be rude to do so to a fellow collegue (I studied for the exam anyway, but I appreciated the gesture). My Span Lit level 2 teacher didn´t care, and didn´t pass me.

What are the exams on (like what subjects?) I'd really like to avoid going to high school again. Is there anywhere I can read about the exams? Are they administered by the BA school board or by UBA for admissions?

There is no way to get out of the exams. The exams are for subjects that you wouldn´t have had.
Argentine history
Argentine geography
Lit 1 and 2
Language 1
Civics
As this is the ONLY requirement to getting into UBA, this makes sence. Remember, you don´t need to enroll in HS, you just need to pass the tests. Your are a student "libre".
You need to go to the ministry of education in person for more info, there might be info on their website.
When I took my exams I took them next to a 70 year old woman. Here in Argentina it is common to take the exams "free" and not enroll. Though I suggest you at least talk with the professor who will be taking the exam before you start to study. They give exams three times a year.
My suggestion was to just enroll in a night school for adults because it will be cheap and help you improve your Spanish, and be a fun experience.
To be clear, these are not NATIONAL tests. These are exams given by a professor to his class at the end of the year. They include a written and oral part usually.

The Ministry of Education will just send you to an office on Esmeralda 55. I don't remember the exact name, but this link explains the whole process:

http://estatico.buenosaires.gov.ar/areas/educacion/gestion_privada/docs/guia-alumn-extr.pdf

If you are from the US/Canada, you will need to look at Section B: Tramitación para Paises SIN Convenio.

hi Montauk,

I read your responses and have a couple questions I thought you could answer:

1. I have citizenship but don't speak Spanish 100% fluently and want to take an advanced class. how would that work? would I enroll in the Spanish for "foreigners" at uba? if so you mentioned a possible cheaper tuition. any idea about that?

2. what about the night schools you mentioned? you say they are cheap so I assume you're referring to some public Spanish night schools? can you clarify?

thanks a lot!

Thanks for all the help everyone. Is there a name for these tests? I've been looking in the BA City site under adult education and it's sort of confusing. A friend was saying the quality will vary a lot between Private and Public, but I really don't believe in private education.

I guess my concern re: the exams is less the content but more having to write complex sentances in Spanish.

We're you a native Spanish speaker Montauk?
Like I said any links to info about the exams would be great.

Thanks!

Sab..as far as uba enrollments are concerned, you need to call in and do a short test so they can assess which class to put you into. They run the tests before the start of each term. If you have a DNI you get a discount on the course price.

ps..the price is also discounted if you do another course after passing your first one. E.g. Study level 3 , pass, enroll for level 4 and you receive a discount based on being UBA Alumni. I think I paid around 35% for my last course after I received my DNI and passed the previous level.

Good luck!

Thanks again Dublin. I reviewed the website and see all the options. 8 hrs./wk for 8 weeks. 4 hrs./wk for 16 weeks. Wow!!! What a bargain

For EXTRANJEROS CON DNI ARG O DEL MERCOSUR it is 2,195 Pesos. Using blue dollar that's about $200. 200/64hrs = $3/hr!!!!! Even if used official rate it would be only $6/hr. Much better than private schools charging about USD$200 for 20 hrs.

My only problem is that I hope to be working soon and I don't see any evening or weekend schedules!!! :) I really want to find out about those "night schools" Montauk spoke about.
