Hi there
We are seeking native English speakers to assist with the translation of Argentine theatre plays from Spanish to English. Translators do not need to be formally qualified but need to speak Spanish well and an understanding of Argentine Spanish is very helpful. The project is entitled Theatre in Translation and is organized by Proyecto 34°S. More information follows.
Proyecto 34°S is an independent organization that produces festivals and events with a focus on contemporary performing arts and active artistic exchange and contact between the diverse peoples and cultures of Africa and Latin America. Our activities aim to foster creative relationships and dialogue between artists and audiences, as well as artistic appreciation, social consciousness and cultural understanding.
The Theatre in Translation project aims to encourage the exchange and appreciation of written theatre plays from Africa and Latin America, recognising and rewarding quality, originality and cultural diversity whilst also bridging the language gap through means of translation and actively promoting and ensuring free electronic access to the selected plays by local and international readers. The work is voluntary with the possibility of a small fee if adequate funding is received. Each play has a 50% chance of being selected for publishing and translators will be credited as such.
