Hello All!

Just reaching out to get suggestions about the best use of my short trip to Santiago? Is there a museum, site, relic, etc., that is a MUST SEE? Is there a restaurant that is a MUST GO TO? I welcome any and all feedback. Thanks!! :)

A couple of things I enjoyed:
  • The Cerro San Cristóbal is absolutely fantastic - amazing views of the city. This is a must do in my mind.
  • The Sky Costanera also a fantastic view of the city and it has a sky bar at the top (I believe the building is the biggest in Latam).
  • I found the historic centre of Santiago to be a little underwhelming compared to other places in Latam to be honest, but it's still worth going to check it out. The Palacio de la Moneda in particular is cool.
  • The Cerro Santia Lucía also has a great view - it's in the city itself, so a different perspective from Cerro San Cristóbal.
  • The Museo de la Memoria y los Derechos Humanos is one of the most interesting museums I have been to. It's mainly about the los desaparecidos and other victims of the military dictatorship in Chile under Pinochet.
  • If you have time, you can also do a day trip to Valparaíso/Viña del Mar or the Cajón del Maipo (either of these options will take a full day).
Tourists typically stay in Las Condes or Providencia. Both are very nice with heaps of restaurants. We stayed in Barrio El Golf which is basically on the border between the two.

The most important question is where are you staying, select Barrio El Golf.
For the best choice of upside Santiago, look at the link below for the best choices in Barrio El Golf restos.
Le Due Torri restaurant has everything from Pastas to the best seafood ; Oysters, Urchins, Congrio, king crab, etc

Echoing Francus211's recommendations. The human rights museum and the gondola ride are both worth it.

I'm bougie and went to Boragó and I really loved it if you're someone that likes to spend money on food experiences.

The last time I was in Santiago I stayed at this apartment/hotel in Las Condes and I thought the value for the price was really solid. Safe, walkable area too.

Thank you all so much for these suggestions!! I can tell you are all connoisseurs and seasoned travelers with exceptional taste. I appreciate your time and valuable insights. Muchas Gracias!!! :)

To this list I would add the Bahai temple in Peñalolen.

Vineyard trips are easy to organize, the vineyards start almost in the city suburbs, or you can go to Casablanca on the way to the coast.

You can also take a trip up to Valle Nevada though that’s maybe a bit long to do, and probably a bit slushy right now.
