Hello all, I have some questions regarding shipping a package internationally for anyone with some experience in the area. First off, I need to send a package from here in Buenos Aires to Canada. I have never shipped anything internationally before so I am completely new to all of this and a little confused. I speak extremely little spanish, so I would like go in with at least a bit of an idea of what information I am going need to provide and what forms I will need to fill out. I am sending a homemade DVD containing University related work back home. As far as I know it has no commercial value and it is for personal use. I bought the blank DVD back in Canada and it probably cost like a couple canadian dollars. Will I need to fill out a commercial invoice for an item such as this? Can somebody recommend which company I should use, such as fedex, ups or dhl? I realize this is very expensive but I need to get this disc back home as soon as possible, so I'm willing to pay the price. So if anyone can provide any information relating to shipping items internationally, I would really appreciate it.

Thank you

For shipping just a DVD, you might have to fill a proforma invoice but that will be done in 2 mins at the fedex office (not even sure you need to fill one).

Depending on the file sizes on it, but nowadays, even hotmail allows to send quite big files (even with Winrar/Winzip you can "slice" a file and send compressed parts of it).
This would be faster & cheaper (depending on the total size of the files, of course if that's a few gigas, that's tricky

Alright, thanks for the info. I'll just have to wait and find out when I arrive at FedEx. I would love it if I could send it over the net but it has to be on a DVD. Not a big deal.

You should have no problem shipping that via Fed/Ex.

I have sent items such as paperwork and data disks to the US from here several times.

How long does it usually take for your shipments to arrive to the US? Do they usually arrive on time?

If you want to save money: With correo argentina my parcels and letters have always arrived in Germany in about 8-10 days, and without any problem. For some extra pesos you can send it with trecking ID. It was very cheap.

if the file is not huge, why not send over the net and have someone in canada put it on a dvd for you?

Trust me that would be even more of a hassle. Most people back home are way too computer illiterate for me to even bother with that option.

It's really not a big deal though. The only reason I was thinking that sending it through a courier company would be kind of a pain was because I speak very little Spanish but I'm sure I can figure it out. Would anyone happen to know if the forms at FedEx are bilingual?
