Shocking poverty in the north-east provinces

Over a decade ago I went up to Posadas to meet a friend. I'd been around Argentina - Mendoza, Ushuaia, Bariloche, Salta, Cordoba, the Atlantic Coast, etc but this was my first time in Missiones. I was stunned when I saw Posadas. It was "third world" in a way I had never seen in Argentina. The heat and humidity along with the vegetation added to the sense that I was far from the Europeanized Argentina I was familiar with. Interesting that the Daily Mail should publish this because you can see similar or worse scenes in most of Latin America.

Life outside the BA bubble is very different indeed. The real Argentina has little to do with the Europeanized Potemkin village most expats live in.

My brother did worse things when we were kids. Hope noone took pictures of him, sold it to newspapers as a reflection of a whole country.

Good job my sister back in the UK isn't a Daily Mail reader....she worries about me.
