I was in San Telmo around 9:30 PM and it seemed as if the wind was coming from East to West.
Like the fire was in the Nature Preserve on the other side of Puerto Madero. A possibility.

Lots of smoke last night around 9 in Palermo Viejo. Seemed to be coming from the east, at least on my street.

the fire, as it says in the link, was at km marker 40, about halfway between Buenos Aires and La Plata.
the nature reserve is marsh meets pampas, with tall grasses.
when it burns, its a lot like a sugar cane field being burned off, a common thing in the american south.
