I've enough of the Hospital Italiano. Today I had again a bad experience: I've pain in my back, need to have 10 sessions of kinesiology and an appointment can be made for ....September! wow! Again a bad experience at the Italiano.
It;s always incredible crowded and though the doctors are well prepared the administration is a chaos.
So I'm looking forward to take a plan in an other prepaga. Swiss Medical and Osde are too expensive for me, I don't want to pay more than 1200 pesos a month for a non-copago plano, I'm 49 y. How about the Hospital Britanico or Hospital Aleman, any recent experiences there?

cheers

We use Accord Salud (la prepaga de Union Personal).

My husband is 49 as well, last month he paid $ 936. So far we are satisfied with it, been using it for 5 years.

My daughter required kinesiology last month and we found a good one through the cartilla who gave us an appointment for the next day... Sometimes when you are a new patient they make you wait, but it should not be the case with kinesio...

We have had minor surgery at Instituto Quirurgico del Callao, Fundacion Hospitalaria (for children) and Sanatorio Anchorena. The Centro Medico Accord works well for lab tests...

Check it out online; if you have any questions, just ask!

Hospital aleman sucks. Longggggggg neverending ques ..even if one is dying..but one has to wait for eternity.

I am on osde 310 and I am MIGHTY pleased with them. Can't say enough good things about them ( it will look as if I am a shareholder!!)

thanks Ceviche. Can I ask you how much r u paying for osde 310 now?
thanks nativexpat. But do you have to be a worker to become a member?

The monthly payments are very high especially, if one is paying personally without a employer's back up etc. If you are usually miserly with money, OSDE 310 is not for you. I have started using OSDE 310 few months ago only. In a twist of fate, some events happened in my life and I realized very very very fast that its not foolhardy to pay for a expensive medical insurance. One never knows when one may need it. One may be paying for many years before ever using it. But when the day comes to use it, one heaves a sigh of relief that one had that back-up avbl. I had to use oSDE very soon after i enrolled with them and I was blown away by their service beyond words!! I will like to say, they were very compassionate/very generous/very sincere! I have decided to continue paying their installments for rest of my life as long I have the money to pay them. This is basis of their service I experienced!!

On another note, I would highly recommend you to look for any insurance program which will allow you to use without any restrictions the services of the hospital by the name of

Instituto Argentino de Diagnostico y Tratamiento ( website :- www.iadt.com)

Its one of the oldest and best hospitals in the city located at Marcelo T Alvear 2400. The long ques do not exist there like in Hospital Italiano and Alemán. The doctors do not seem over worked/harassed like they do at Alemán. It has some excellent (very old and very very experienced) doctors. I can not say enough good things about this particular hospital and its doctors/support staff etc. The best thing is -I have hardly seen any expats there, who usually flock in 100's and 1000's at Italiano,Swiss, Britannia and Aleman. Whenever I went to Alemán, I saw at least 100 expats/tourists each time. I guess they love the fact, its called "The German Hospital"..however, the services suck big time and nothing like that of a hospital in Germany! Kind of un-nerving.

The Great Shakespeare said "what's in a name??"

So look for a medical plan incorporating the services of this hospital!

Hope this helps.

I will second ceviche's recommendation for IADT and enthusiastically second the OP's opinion of Hospital Italiano (if you search you can find my review of the place).

By the way, OSDE 210 includes IADT.

thanks Ceviche, very useful your point about IADT and the Aleman. I just read the prepaga Medicus has IADT too and it seems to be less expensive as OSDE so I'll get to Medicus.
cheers

Hi. No, you do not need to be a worker. Although it is related to Union Personal, Accord Salud is totally private. Neither my husband nor myself are employed in Argentina.

I should add that it took me quite some time to get used to Accord, and that I hated for a couple years, but looking back I realize that it was all part of my re adjusting to Argentina. They do have a centro medico just meters away from IADT, on Azcuenaga 1014 and it has become a bit more crowded over the years, but it is still ok (for Argentine standards). I mainly use Sanatorio Anchorena for emergencies (mostly pediatrics) and it works very well. You can also use Bazterrica for emergencies, but I've only been there once and in my experience, it sucks.

*I have also heard good things about IADT and their doctors. I have a friend whose daughter is handicapped with many health issues who goes there frequently. Her only complaint is that the emergency room tends to be crowded.

Good luck!

I have Medicus (Plan Integra, the second lowest) and I go to IADT whenever I can. I've used the guardia and been to the other building right across the street to see a gynecologist. I've also been to the lab. They e-mailed me my results! Good experiences in all cases, except the gynecologist only works Thursdays so I guess it's a good idea to ask when making an appointment when the doctor works in case it's someone you'll have to go to a few times, just to be aware. You can also go to Clínica Bazterrica.

I've since been to the Medicus clinic right in the same area as IADT at Azcuénaga 910 for an appointment with a general practitioner and bloodwork, and while it's small, a bit crowded and not as nice and new as IADT, I had nothing to complain about, really. There's another one in Belgrano and I think in a couple other places. I didn't have to make an appointment for the bloodwork. I just showed up and even though it was crowded, I only had to wait 20 minutes after checking in. Not bad. The technician was great and very fast.

Medicus-specific complaints-- I had to get a reference to go to a dermatologist, which is why I went to the general practitioner. But I called and made the appointment with the specialist before I had the reference, which made the time I had to wait between appointments just a few days. And of course if things are really bad, you can always just go to the guardia. My second complaint would be that when receptionists or pharmacists (not at Medicus clinics) ask me which plan I have, no one knows what Plan Integra is. They always ask about, celeste, celeste azul, etc. and nowhere on any of my bills or other papers does it say anything other than Plan Integra and joven, my age category. So that's a little weird and I've just been handing them the card so they can type in my number and check themselves. The Medicus office is right by all these clinics I've gone to, so I'm going to pop in and ask them about this eventually.
