I'd like to go and play a sport with strangers. Anything!
People here seem to arrange games between friends but with this it takes ages to find someone at your level and you never meet anyone new. It could be a great way to break into having local friends which many have said is so crucial for happiness here.

Back home I sometimes go to Badminton, Tennis, 5-a-side football, tabletennis, plus classes too. I can move to any location and get to know some people pretty quick.

A search doesn't show much:

And nor does the directory:

Is this something that simply doesn't exist here? I'm a pretty active person always wanting to move around and do stuff. I get a bit bored of go to a restaurant with friends or go to a friends house and get high or drunk.

Is there any other ideas you might have to socialise? I meet people no worries at the beach but here in the city I just don't know what to do with myself... either boring or hard grind on the language.

I`m playing there regularly, it`s a good group of people (expats, argies and other south americans), it`s fun and well organized. it`s competitive, some playing experience helps, but has a "muy buena onda". i don´t want to miss this.
try it out!

It definitely exists. :) There are leagues and clubs in pretty much every sport you can imagine.

There are "country club" type places all over... Club de Amigos, Club de Comunicaciones, Club de Gimnasia and Esgrima, etc that offer various sports. My husband recently started playing American football at the Club de Comunicaciones (Football Americano Argentina.) www.faarg.com.ar

He has also done Muay Thai, kickboxing, swimming... etc. There's all types of activities, you just have to look for them! Not to mention all the soccer leagues and backyard teams. It might be easier to start with an activity you enjoy and search from there.

Hi, I play in the ultimate frisbee league here. There are 8 teams, almost all have open practices on various days with league games on sat/sundays starting in another week or so. There is a pickup game every saturday starting at about 4pm in ciudad universitaria.

Here is a link to get you started:http://www.ultimateargentina.com.ar/

Let me know if you have more questions!

I can't wait! I will be studying aborad for a year in Argentina. I will be there in a couple weeks and I am looking to play some... or a lot of Ultimate in my free time. How do I get started in BA? I play for my college team in the states now so I am familiar with the game. i love Ultimate and I was happy to see this post. Also, should I bring extra discs with me when I come down. thanks, nev55
